What does a wedding stylist actually do? And how can they help you create your dream wedding?

Planning a wedding is a hugely daunting task and I often hear from my brides and grooms saying they feel overwhelmed. My job is to help you create a beautiful place for the ceremony and reception to take place.

I’m sure you’ve wondered how to turn a wedding into one of those Pinterest-perfect dreamscapes? That’s the magic of a wedding stylist – like me!

Think of me as a fairy godparent of the wedding world, sprinkling creativity and expertise to make your big day look and feel exactly as you’ve imagined.

So how do I decorate your wedding to make it stunning and memorable?

  1. Help you find your style. A wedding stylist is like a style guru for your wedding. I can help you translate your vision into reality, advising on everything from colours and themes to decorations and overall aesthetics. It’s like having a personal stylist for the most important day of your life!
  2. Set the mood. Have you ever been to a wedding where the atmosphere felt absolutely perfect? That’s the handiwork of a wedding stylist. I curate the vibe by selecting the perfect decorations, the all-important lighting, and even the arrangement of tables and chairs. Our goal is to create ambiance and set the mood for your wedding.
  3. Details, Details, Details: From the type of centrepiece on the tables, to the napkin and chair colours, I am all about the detail. I sweat the small stuff, so you don’t have to. It’s these details that turn an ordinary venue into a personalised haven that reflects you and your partners style.
  4. I’m your creative sidekick: Imagine me as your creative partner who can bring your ideas to life. That’s exactly what I do as a wedding stylist. I’m here to collaborate with you, offering suggestions, mapping out concepts, and making sure that every element aligns with your dream wedding vision.
  5. What about on the wedding day itself? When the big day arrives, I’m there on the day to ensure that everything looks picture-perfect. I work with your venue, florist, caterers, whatever wedding suppliers you’ve selected, to work behind the scenes, making sure that the everything is in place. The lighting sets the right mood, every corner of the venue – whether you’ve chosen balloons, backdrops, stationery, table plans, light-up letters, chair and table covers, blossom trees, table-centres – is in a perfect position and a beautiful reflection of your relationship story.

In a nutshell, I am your wedding stylist, your go-to person for turning your wedding dreams into a visual masterpiece. I going to bring that creativity, expertise, and a touch of magic to ensure that your special day is as beautiful as the love you share.

Introduction

We’re coming into the winter season, we’ve put together some ideas for those selecting a winter wedding, either this year or in 2024. While summer weddings may be the traditional choice, there’s something truly enchanting about saying “I do” in the season of winter.

The UK, with its picturesque landscapes and rich cultural heritage, provides an ideal backdrop for a magical winter wedding. In this blog, we’ll explore the unique charm and considerations that come with planning a winter wedding in the UK.

  • A Blanket of Elegance: The Winter Aesthetic

Winter paints the UK in a different palette – one of soft whites, deep greens, and muted greys. Venues like historic manors, rustic barns, and enchanting castles take on a special allure under a blanket of snow or against a backdrop of frost-covered trees. Utilise nature’s wintry beauty to enhance the genuine romantic atmosphere. Where we understand rain can play a big part, we can help make sure that you’re ready for anything the weather throws at you.

  • The Season of Intimacy

Winter weddings often lend themselves to smaller, more intimate gatherings. With the nights drawing in, there’s a natural pull towards cozy, candlelit celebrations. This does create a more intimate atmosphere immediately and your guests will feel super special to attend.

  • Warmth in Every Detail

Embrace the colder temperatures by incorporating warmth into your wedding décor. Consider offering cozy blankets, hot beverage stations like mulled wine or hot cocoa, and inviting lounge areas with plush seating and roaring fires.

  • Festive Flavours and Seasonal Delights

Winter brings with it an abundance of seasonal culinary delights. Consider a menu featuring hearty dishes like roast meats, root vegetables, and comforting, classic British desserts. Embrace traditional Christmas fare like mince pies and yule logs, or get creative with winter-inspired flavours like cinnamon, cranberry, and ginger. All of these wonderful scents can be incorporated into your table decorations and floral arrangements.

  • Dress the Part: Bridal Attire for Winter Wonder

A winter wedding allows for luxurious fabrics and accessories that might be too heavy for a summer affair. Think long-sleeved gowns, faux fur wraps, and intricate beading. Grooms can opt for rich, textured fabrics like velvet or tweed, paired with warm, woolen accessories.

  • Twinkling Lights and Candlelit Magic

With shorter days and longer nights, winter weddings offer the perfect canvas for lighting magic. Incorporate fairy lights, candles, and lanterns to create a warm and enchanting atmosphere. Consider using them to highlight architectural features, line pathways, and adorn tables for an ethereal effect.

  • Winter Blooms and Foliage

While fresh blooms may be less abundant, winter offers its own unique array of flora. Incorporate seasonal flowers like amaryllis, hellebore, and evergreen foliage into your floral arrangements. Deep, rich colours like burgundy, deep reds, and forest greens can create a striking visual contrast against the winter landscape.

A winter wedding in the UK is a truly magical experience, filled with romance, intimacy, and the beauty of the season. From the picturesque backdrops to the cozy atmospheres, there’s a unique charm that sets it apart. With careful planning and attention to detail, your winter wedding can be a celebration that leaves lasting memories for both you and your guests. Embrace the magic of winter and create a day that’s truly unforgettable.

Wedding Centrepieces

Wedding Centrepieces

wedding venue tables dressed with artificial flowers in soft pinks and blues
Hurricane candle lantern as wedding table centrepiece

During our busy wedding season this year, we’ve been creating beautiful centrepieces for our gorgeous brides and grooms and wanted to share a few ideas for people considering table centres for their wedding.  It’s a piece of décor that can really change the look and feel of a whole room – especially rooms that might be less designed focused already.  We often discuss differing designs and styles with brides and grooms and hope this little list of our favourites will inspire you…

Wedding centrepieces should always be considered along with your personal style and theme of your wedding. Here goes with a few ideas:

  1. Floral arrangements: Fresh flowers are a classic choice for wedding centrepieces. You can create stunning displays using a variety of blooms and greenery to match your colour scheme and theme. You can go big or small, creating small, sophisticated centres with just a few stems of flowers, or go wild with tall, floral arrangements that cascade over your table
  2. Candlelight arrangements: Candles add a romantic and elegant touch to any centrepiece. You can use a combination of candle holders, votives, or lanterns to create a warm and inviting ambiance. Do consider LED or real flame candles – just be careful if you’ve got children or your venue bans naked flames. We recently designed a wedding using gorgeous brown paper bags with simple LED flame-style tea lights in the bags. Such a simple, but elegant touch.
  3. Fruits and foliage: Incorporating fruits, such as lemons or berries, along with lush foliage can create vibrant and visually striking centrepieces. This option works particularly well for rustic or outdoor-themed weddings. Make sure they’re edible however in case people pick at them! We also have a range of beautiful artificial blossom trees that make beautiful centrepieces – you can add these in other areas of the room too to continue the theme.
  4. Submerged flowers: For a unique and modern look, consider submerging flowers in water-filled vases or bowls. This creates a captivating and ethereal effect that can be complemented with floating candles or LED lights. Make sure you check with your florist though, as some flowers can disintegrate quickly in water. But many look stunning in this effect!
  5. Non-floral centrepieces: If you’re looking for alternatives to flowers, you can opt for centrepieces using elements like feathers, seashells, branches, or even books, showcasing your personal interests or wedding theme. We have wedding where couples have been on beautiful holidays and use these as themes, or children’s names if you’ve already got kids, we can help you play around with these ideas and create something really memorable.
  6. Mirrors and cut glass centrepieces: A glamorous and sophisticated look is using our beautiful candelabras, mirror bases and crystal diamonds. These are the perfect height to make sure your guests see each other for conversation, but create a room that has differing heights across the space. Making it extra special.

Remember, the best wedding centrepieces are the ones that reflect your personal style and create a beautiful and memorable atmosphere for you and your guests. So, just tell us what you’d like and we’ll come up with some beautiful suggestions.  Remember the planning is all part of the excitement!

Go on, give us a call and let’s see how special we can make your wedding. We do so much more than just decor too, check out our stationery range too!

Designing a fun and fabulous wedding

Designing a fun and fabulous wedding

Dressed function room set for a wedding with tables, chair covers with pink sashes, a top table with starlight backdrop behind
Candy cart to hire for wedding
corridor in function rooms dressed with fake blossom trees for a wedding ceremony

I’ve just completed a wedding for a brilliant couple who wanted a traditional reception with a few twists. They started planning their wedding around a year ago and last weekend their dream day went without a hitch!

Our real strength lies in helping brides and grooms create a beautiful and exciting wedding space. Many hotels or other venues can be bland, but offer great service, location and food. So in I come to make the place look dreamy!

Kate and Andrew were looking to make a lovely, but standard function room at The Worsley Park Hotel and Golf Club, look fresh fun and a focus on spring. The events team at the hotel were fantastic and so accommodating. We used pink fabrics – on Kate’s request – blossom trees to line the hallways and brought in fun elements including a candy cart, shimmer wall for photos, starlight backdrop to accentuate the top-table and light up letters spelling ‘LOVE’.

Importantly, Kate and Andrew had set their budget and knew their limits. This is so important when planning your wedding, really consider every element and make a full breakdown of costs. You’ll keep things under control that way. Be clear with your wedding decorator that you have a budget, and you won’t deviate from it.

Kate and Andrew had several children coming to the event, so they included a lovely soft play area for kids.  I worked alongside another wedding supplier for this called ‘Sleepy Little Campers’.  I’d highly recommend this activity if you have many children attending. Another idea is to bring in a childminder to keep an eye on the children using that area.

This wedding also took one of our stationery packages, with beautiful signage boards for the table plan, the day’s full schedule and welcome messaging.  I would always advise having a clear table plan, some brides ask me if they need one, but anything to avoid stress on the day is really important. It can lead to issues when guests are selecting their own seats! Even a simple table plan and nothing else can reduce their worry and make your guests feel welcome and know what they’re doing!

Something totally different was Kate and Andrew’s choice of music! They found the most fun and lively brass band who not only played brilliantly, but were completely unique, crazy and totally immersive.  Check out FAT CAT BRASS here.

If you’d like support with your wedding decorations or help when considering decorations with the right venue, give me a call.  I’m happy to help!  Remember, you don’t always have to go with a venue’s preferred suppliers – you can always shop around and bring in the person you feel will do the best job and make your wedding fabulous!

We’ve been feeling the love creating beautiful backdrops and decorations for your weddings

We’ve been feeling the love creating beautiful backdrops and decorations for your weddings

I can’t tell you just how fabulous it feels to be back planning all of your special events again. We have been busy transforming venues across the country and have many more in the pipeline.

Lots of weddings have sadly been postponed due to the impact of Government restrictions but thankfully, long awaited celebrations are now back on the cards.

He’s a little catch up on what we’ve been up to recently:

The North West Wedding Awards

The highlight of our year so far is definitely being nominated in the prestigious North West Wedding Awards. We didn’t make the finals this year, but so pleased and grateful that our clients nominated us in the first place!  Thanks to all who did!

Venue Dressing

This is our absolute favourite thing when we get to create the beautiful backdrops to your special days. The way the venue is styled really sets the stage for your wedding or special event. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the beautiful bride’s face light up as she sees her dreams manifested before her on her special day.

Themes

It’s amazing how just a few well-chosen additions work together to really upscale the whole event. My favourites are the large light up decals. They set the perfect area for photographs for all your guests.

light love Love letters for wedding

Chair and table covers add a certain elegance to your event. Choose from a range of stunning shades or organza to co-ordinate with your theme. They look beautiful with the crisp, classic white linen.

wedding dressing room decorations

Table settings and centre pieces can really individualise your wedding. One idea is to decorate each table in a variation of a theme, for example one couple had every table as their favourite films – there was a Moulin Rouge themed table with rich red colours and French themed favors and even a Grease themed setting with Pink Lady Cocktails. Let your imagination run wild. We’ll support you to help you create exactly what’s right for you.

We’re also seeing many seasonal themes; autumnal colours and candles are coming in and don’t forget, sensational winter weddings are just around the corner.

We can provide you with inspiration or match your already chosen theme. Take a look at our Wedding packages here.
