Bold, Bright and Different

Brides and grooms are shunning the traditional whites and pastel colours for bright and daring colour combinations. From dresses to flowers, decorations and food – colour is exploding everywhere.

We love that colour is making such an impact – why not bring colour into your reception with drapes, sashes and splashes of colour all over your tables.

Mind-blowing wedding entertainment

Entertainment has always been the talk of a wedding.  Make sure your guests are fully entertained all day and evening with different and alternative games, music and more.

Outdoor wedding games have become all the rage, so whether it’s pitch n put, welly wanging, an adult-sized bouncy castle or archery – think about the outside space you have at your disposal.

When it’s all about getting people on the dance floor and music, bringing in bigger bands with several vocalists is a big trend for 2023. But if budget is limited, think about having an exciting DJ with a late night vocalist to get everyone on the dance floor.

Ceremony Backdrops

Gone are the typical displays and in come exciting and fresh focal points for your ceremony. Think beautiful bright balloon arches or rings, with exciting colours to offer depth to your wedding pictures.

Light-up letters and neon signs offer brides and grooms some quirky, personalised messages and give your guests a great spot for photos and selfies!

And with flowers being less in demand as sustainability becomes a key consideration for 2023, feathers, greenery, faux plants and faux flowers are all the rage.

The 80s

Apparently the 80s is back!! Stranger Things, Kate Bush, Top Gun, Martin Kemp and neon has been big for 2021 and it’s not going away. 80s fashion accents will be huge for 2023, with puff-ball sleeves and bridal wedding suits shown on the catwalk, this might be an era you want to bring into your wedding.

If you were a young person in the 80s, it makes even more sense. And the above trends do follow with bright colours, neon signs and a great music theme for your wedding.

And after all, as a bride, we all need to RELAX sometimes. Get in touch today on 07981 892595 and lets discuss your theme and see how Fabulous Rooms and Balloons can create the perfect decorations for your big day.

Invitations, table plans, name cards, save the dates, wedding books – where do you start when choosing the right stationery for your wedding?

Invitations, table plans, name cards, save the dates, wedding books – where do you start when choosing the right stationery for your wedding?

Wedding stationery is a bit of a minefield!  Firstly, what does it consist of? Do you need all of it? Which bits are essential? Well, we’ve tried to break down the key items of stationery you might want to consider for your wedding.

And did we say we’re now offering this service for all our lovely brides and grooms? Or anyone who is throwing a party or event that needs fabulous stationery?

So what can you have?

  • Save the date cards or tags
  • Invitations and envelops and liners, RSVP cards
  • Order of service
  • Favour or confetti packets
  • Table plans, table cards, name cards, menus,
  • Photo boards
  • Thank you cards
  • Guest books
  • And just about anything you’d like that’s bespoke for your wedding.

Save The Date

Save the dates are really significant!  They get that all important day in your guests’ calendars and starts the excitement for the entire wedding.  You can have small or large cards with different designs, colours, sizes and prints. A cute idea could also be to send a card tag, threaded with ribbon, cord, string or natural material which could go alongside a small gift or teaser for the wedding.

Invitations, envelopes and RSVP cards

We know that online invitations work very well, but there’s something so very, very special about receiving an invitation through the post. It builds excitement and sets the tone for your wedding.

You can simply have a card that you mail in a plain envelop. Or, really go for it and theme your invitation with a matching envelop/insert, information card and RSVP postcard already stamped and ready to send back.  It really is up to you!

Order of Service

Some people say this is a little outdated. We think they give your guests a helpful guide to what’s happening in the service and something to take home as a memento.

What’s an order of service? Just that, a document that tells your guests what the timing is, and what is expected of them. They are helpful for more religious ceremonies, especially if you’ve got non-religious people attending. It can explain why your service is so important to you – religious or otherwise!

Again, it can also bring your wedding theme into the ceremony – use your colours, themes and use beautiful print or paper to make it extra special.

Favours and confetti packets

This is such a wonderful touch for your wedding. Having branded paper packages for your confetti and / or favours is such a lovely item to present to your guests. It’s also something that can be prepared well in advance.

We can print lovely little paper packages that you can fill with gorgeous confetti – we love this brand of organic, eco-friendly confetti. Or, add cute favours gifts like sweeties, mini-candles, the traditional sugared almonds or macarons.

Table plans, table cards, name cards, menus

Ah, the table plan! Apparently the most stressful part of planning a wedding! Our advice here, is follow what you want to do!  But, at a minimum we’d recommend having a large printed plan at your wedding to tell people what table they’re sat on. You don’t want a complete free for all!  You may find Old Aunty Sally sat on a table with the rowdy guests!

If you want to do this properly, then you can use your wedding theme to create beautiful name cards for your guests and have fun or stylish cards to name each table.  We’ve had favourite holiday destinations, names of best friends, nightclubs and bars from where the bride and groom met, and all kinds of beautiful floral or coloured designs.  Go for it, we can help with inspiration too!

Now, menus aren’t necessary, but they make a lovely touch, especially if someone has allergies or intolerances.  You can show individuals that you’ve made that little bit of extra effort to cater for them – plus all the guests like to know what they’re going to eat!

Photoboards and Guest Books

It’s long been a tradition to have a Guest Book for people to write messages to create a wonderful memory of your wedding. We can help create this for you so it fits with all your other stationery and wedding theme. But an alternative idea is to have a large board that has your wedding theme printed on it and lots of space for guests to write a quick message.  It’s then all ready for hanging on the walls of your home for a daily reminder of your special day.

Thank You Cards

After the big day is done and you come down from that amazing emotional ride that weddings are, it’s a really special thing to send a card to thank your guests. We can help you design a card that includes a special photo and message to your guests. Just ask us for examples!

Tips on budget

Stationery can be very inexpensive and still look amazing or suddenly rack up the pounds! So a few tips for you to keep the costs down, or go the other way and make this part of your wedding indulgent!

Print styles

The more intricate your print request, the more expensive. Simple digital print on standard paper weights (paper is measured in physical size e.g. A4, A5, A2 and weight e.g. 180gsm) is the least costly option.  But, if you want to have textured paper with letter press styling or with foiled print on the words, then it will cost more. But get prices for different effects!  You may be surprised – click here for quotes.

Colours

As a rule, adding more and more colours will increase the cost of your print. The most cost effective is using black and white or two colours only.

Paper type and weight

I mentioned before that paper is measured in size and weight. Well, the rule is the thicker the paper, the more expensive. But remember, anything you print in terms of invitations, you need to post!  More weight equals more expensive mail costs.

Another consideration is thinking about recycled stock and non-toxic/acid-free paper. If you’re trying to have a sustainable wedding, we’d definitely advise considering this.  Or maybe e-invitations are better for you – www.papperlesspost.com and www.greenenvelope.com are good for this.  However, be careful to get prices first, some e-invitations (once you’ve sent all of them out and then reminders and information messages) can get very expensive!  You may find printed cards are a cheaper option.
