Christmas is coming…

Christmas is coming…

Here at Fabulous, we’re on a mission to decorate every home with sparkles, fun and festivity. We can offer something a little different this year: why not decorate your house with festive, balloon door wreaths; have a balloon Christmas tree; be dramatic with a balloon garland swirling your staircase; or, just go crazy with Santa and elf designs.

This year will definitely be one to remember,  so let’s all make it extra special with additional little treats that you may not have thought about before.

We have creative Christmas treat balloons – personalise them with your child’s name and fill with treats and chocolates.

Christmas Treat Balloons

We’ve created a wonderful 6ft balloon Christmas tree, order for any get together or for an extra bit of fun this year.

Our fabulous balloon garlands can surround any staircase or fireplace, door or bed. They make a wonderful, unique decoration and can last for up many days if cared for.

We’re getting lots of requests for our lovely balloon door wreaths too. We can offer any colour – but get really festive with red, green and gold.

And finally, why not pop Frosty the Snowman in your kitchen and Santa in the living room?

Is Halloween 2020 cancelled?

Is Halloween 2020 cancelled?

Is Halloween 2020 cancelled?

Not if we’ve got anything to do with it!

Unfortunately, we are not ‘Ghosts of the Future’ so we have no idea if this year’s ‘Trick or Treating’ will be off. But, we wanted to share some spooky treats that you can do with all the family, lockdown or not.

So, if there is six of you, more or just you and your household, don’t worry it can still be really fun and scary for everyone.

  1. Plan ahead. To make any event special you do need to put in a bit of preparation! Just make a quick list of what you really want and buy everything now so you’re not rushing, or desperately trying to get an online shopping slot. If you can afford it, order decorations or prepared food. We can provide all kinds of fun decorations and buying simple food platters from Costo or Marks & Spencer can make life easy.
  2. Scary little monsters. The shops are already full of spooky little outfits for your minute monsters. Get an idea of what they want now. Leaving it too late can mean the best outfits, or the right sizes, are gone and they won’t be restocked. Home Bargains has loads of freaky things to buy this year. But move fast, some sizes are already out of stock. https://www.homebargains.co.uk/category/174-halloween.aspx
  3. Look for fun events on the run up to Halloween that will be Covid secure. Places like Tatton Park in Cheshire is holding pumpkin picking at the farm. It might be the outdoor event that entertains the kids if Trick or Treating is off the cards. http://www.tattonpark.org.uk/events_at_tatton_park/event-listings/2020/october/the-pumpkin-patch.aspx
  4. Decoration is key. You don’t need to spend fortunes to make the house look extra spooky. Inside and out you can still make it exciting for your kids, people passing and your neighbours. Make spiders’ webs out of cotton wool, save jars to put LED tea lights in (never use candles when children are playing), change the colour of your lightbulbs to green, red or orange, cut out black paper into bats, witches hats or pumpkins and stick around your windows, hang white sheets over the bannister or lampshades (only if safe to do so) and pin black, paper eyes on it.                                                                                                                                                                          We offer a range of eerie Halloween balloons too; call us today and we’ll decorate your house with scary balloons of all shapes and sizes. We offer contactless delivery too.
  5. Crafty, scary games. The old-fashioned ones are still the best. Fill a few buckets or washing-up bowls with water and get the kids ready for apple bobbing. We suggest doing this in the garden or with lots of towels at the ready! You can also create a ghoulish sensation guessing game – place wet, squelchy or cold items in large, blacked-out jars for them to guess what’s inside. Peeled grapes for eyeballs, cold custard for ghost slime and candy floss for spiders’ webs – if they can guess what they really are, they get a prize.
  6. Pumpkin carving. This is something that’s fun for everyone. You can get pumpkins in all shapes and sizes – use You Tube to find helpful ‘how to carve a pumpkin’ videos. Get some carved a few nights before with the kids and then save some for the evening itself. Make sure you always have an adult in charge of this. Again, this can have a prize for the most ghastly pumpkin!
  7. Fun with food.If you are into cooking, great! You can make biscuits or cakes in the shapes of fun Halloween figures. Why not save the decorating for the day so the kids can help. If you can’t bake, don’t worry – you can buy pre-made biscuits with the icing to decorate later. Local bakeries are fantastic at making themed treats, so just buy some if you haven’t got the time.
  8. Create a scary bathroom. You could put fun surprises in the loo, like giant spider balloons, or put some (washable) colouring down the loo to look like slime! You could always use a green-coloured toilet cleaner and keep topping it up.
  9. Trick or Treat. In reality, this may not be able to go ahead, let’s wait and see. But you could set up a special Trick or Treat game inside instead. Hide sweeties in each room of the house (you can always have ‘Do Not Enter’ rooms with scary signs if necessary) and send the kids off to find them with their usual Halloween buckets/bags. Don’t forget to use the garden too – it’ll be tricky in the dark!
  10. Don’t forget to get creative in front of your house. Even if the kids can’t go out this year knocking on doors, it doesn’t mean we can’t still get ghostly outside. We can create scary balloon arches for your door, lights and pumpkins are still so much fun and if you’re really creative, why not use two pool noodles up-turned in a plant pot like they’re a witch’s legs! Use some black and purple/orange striped tights over the noodles and some boots on the end – they’ll look like the Wicked Witch has been crushed by your house!

If you want to try and still make it Fabulously scary this year, give us a call and we can offer some eerie balloon decorations for your house.

How to style your home for a party

How to style your home for a party

So right now, depending on what part of the country you’re in you may, or may not, be back in some form of lockdown. Here in Greater Manchester, we’re back to no guests inside your home or garden. But that doesn’t mean your child’s Birthday party, anniversary or other occasion doesn’t need to be celebrated. So, whatever circumstances you’re facing, here are a few tips to create an extra special space in your own home. Whether you can have guests, or you can’t! It’s nice to make the day extra Fabulous.

  1. Use your current wall art. Why not swap out any pictures in frames with photos of your guest of honour. Or, you could add swags and garlands to add some colour and decoration.
  2. Brighten up the party table. Use some fabric or a bright tablecloth to liven up the dinning table. If you’ve got a theme, try and match it or stick with white if you want to go neutral. We have options for table dressings too, make it extra special with tablecloths and beautiful centre pieces.
  3. Dress up your windows and doors, inside and out.  Lights, streamers and balloons make the front of your house look really exciting. Not only that, if you are allowed guests, it’ll direct them to the right place. We can create any kind of balloon decoration to fit your theme and provide fittings/ties so they don’t blow away!
  4. Bring greenery and flowers in from outside. Right now, gardens are looking great! Why not bring pot plants inside or cut some flowers from your garden to decorate the house. This is especially good for a tropical-themed event. If you don’t have flowers, green branches and stems are equally fun and different. Don’t forget rooms like the loo – it’s something guests will probably use! If you go for a tropical theme, we can provide parrot or monkey balloons, among many other jungle animals!
  5. Organise with trays. Group food, drinks, and party gifts on colourful or elegant trays, depending on the type of event. This will save your table from ring marks, but also helps you put your hands on things quickly.
  6. Don’t leave the posh tableware hidden in a cupboard. For a more grown up affair, get out all that beautiful tableware you might have. There’s no point only using them at Christmas. Fancy tableware can really add some sparkle to an event. If your chairs are a bit battered too, we can provide you with chair covers.
  7. Set the mood with lighting. Swap out your light bulbs for coloured ones to create a stylish effect, especially for celebrations like Halloween or Pride parties. Candles are beautiful for grown up parties, but for kids’ events use LED tea lights and fun, string-lights instead.
  8. Don’t forget the bathroom. You could put fun surprises in the loo, like giant balloons or a simple game for people to play and compete with others by recording their scores on a blackboard. Clear everything else and leave plenty of soap and clean handtowels.
  9. Simple food. Food doesn’t have to be overly complicated or stressful. Think about how you can spend the most time with your family or guests. Try searching for simple dinner party menu ideas you can prepare ahead of time, or think about buying sandwich platters and simple oven treats for kids’ parties. If you’re a skilled baker, go for it! But don’t stress yourself baking a big cake if it’s not your best skill. You can buy them for all kinds of budgets and they’re great!
  10. Don’t forget the front of your house and hallway. We’ve created all kinds of Fabulous balloon arches and bespoke decorations to guide guests to a house and get people excited before they’ve even walked through your door. For kids on lockdown, it’s a way for neighbours and friends to know you’re still celebrating. Hallways are often forgotten, decorate with lights, photos and balloons. For children’s parties, these balloons can double as an extra for the party bags.

Don’t forget we offer contactless delivery, so you can still celebrate even the smallest event with a simple personalised balloon or go for it with the above suggestions.

We’re famous!

We’re all smiles at the moment as NABAS, The Balloon and Party Professionals Association, has featured one of our rainbow balloon arches in its magazine.

We’ve been making all kinds of rainbow designed balloons recently to celebrate and recognise the hard work of all our emergency services personnel and care staff across the country.

We think they should be championed all the time, but especially right now.

Remember to give us a call if you’re worried about planning your party and how things can remain safe. We know so many of you have had to cancel celebrations including weddings, anniversaries and Birthdays, but let’s all hope that we can now start getting those events back on track.

Please don’t hesitate to give us a call so we can explain what we’re doing to keep all our clients’ safe during this time.
